What is Gynecology?
Gynecology focuses on women’s reproductive health, covering everything related to the uterus, ovaries, fallopian tubes, cervix, and vagina. It addresses concerns like menstrual cycles, fertility, sexual health, and conditions such as endometriosis or fibroids. Gynecologists specialize in diagnosing and treating these issues while also providing preventive care through routine exams, screenings, and advice on family planning. The goal is to ensure the reproductive system remains healthy and well cared for.
How does it work?
Advanced minimally invasive gynecological surgery uses small incisions, usually no larger than a few centimeters. Specialized instruments, including a laparoscope (a thin, flexible tube with a camera), are used to view the inside of the body on a monitor. This allows the surgeon to perform procedures with precision, often without the need for large incisions.
The surgery can treat conditions like fibroids, endometriosis, ovarian cysts, and more, while minimizing damage to surrounding tissues. The result is less pain, faster recovery, and fewer complications compared to traditional open surgery, as it avoids large cuts and long hospital stays. Patients often experience less blood loss and can return to normal activities more quickly.
